Winter Storm and Freezing Pipes
2/17/2021 (Permalink)
Winter weather, specifically ice, can cause a lot of damage to your home. There are some things that can be done to help prevent the damage from occurring. According to the CDC, here are a few recommendations on ways to best weatherproof your home:
- Insulate any water lines that run along exterior walls so your water supply will be less likely to freeze.
- Caulk and weather strip doors and windows.
- Insulate walls and attic.
- Install storm or thermal-pane windows or cover windows with plastic from the inside.
- Repair roof leaks and cut away tree branches that could fall on your home or other structure during a storm.
Hopefully you are not someone that has a tree fall on your home; however, if you find yourself in this situation, or even just have a small amount of water leaking in from somewhere, give us a call. We can help by providing board up and tarping if needed. Even though this can be a scary and overwhelming situation, SERVPRO is here to make it “Like it never even happened.”
